2211 Pacific Beach Drive, San Diego, CA 92109, on Mission Bay
Campland on the Bay
EV friendly: we charged the truck at the 50-amp pedestal. Written for every camper, trailer, RV or tent, with the EV charging answer up front.

Can you charge an EV here? Yes · 50-amp
The 50-amp full-hookup sites can charge an electric truck at the pedestal, about 9.6 kW at 40 amps, with room to dial the current down and run the camper air conditioning at the same time. We plugged in here. A big city destination park that had no problem with it, which is not something we take for granted.

Pool and hot tubs, a gym, an arcade, a market and coffee counter, an ice cream parlor, and a cantina with a bar. Live music all summer and activities like bingo. Updated bathrooms with nice showers. Sites run in a lot of different shapes and price tiers; the entry sites are tight and the roomy ones cost more. We paid $514 for 4 nights, about $128 a night. Walking distance to Mission Bay, a couple of minutes to Pacific Beach, and a short drive to SeaWorld, the Zoo, and downtown. Fiesta Island and its off-leash dog park sit right across the water. The bay path starts at the gate, so you can ride a bike all the way to Mission Beach and get on the roller coaster at Belmont Park, keep going to Ocean Beach, or head up to La Jolla, which is also a quick drive.
Our take
This is a destination, not a stopover, and it knows it. Concerts all summer, bingo and other activities on the board, a pool and hot tubs, an arcade for the kids, a cantina and an ice cream counter, and staff who are genuinely welcoming. Everyone camping is there to relax and party, so the mood is good. What you trade for that is room. Our site was the smallest we have ever parked in and you are cramped together, though bigger sites exist for more money, so it comes down to what you are willing to pay. At about $128 a night it is not cheap. The bathrooms are updated with nice showers, the mini mart and the bar are good, and the gym is there but it is not the best. People come back year after year, and for some families it is a tradition. Worth saying plainly: at $128.50 a night this is the most expensive night in our whole campground log, and Sweetwater Summit, fifteen miles inland, is a third of that for a bigger site. What the money buys here is the location and the scene, not the space. If you want quiet and room to spread out, go inland. If you want the kids in the arcade, a concert at night, and a bike ride to the roller coaster in the morning, this is the one. One piece of advice we would give anyone towing something long: ask for the site dimensions before you book, not after. Our truck and trailer run about 47 feet together, and the entry sites are not sized with that in mind. We want to come back with an Airstream group.
Heads upOur site was the smallest we have ever parked in, and the rigs sit close together. If you want elbow room, book up to a bigger site class and expect to pay for it.
